Join us for the inaugural jazz & supper club. We are mixing up what we do with our traditional jazz nights a little bit and focusing the evening not only on great music but on incredible food too.
Each month will feature fabulous food from a specific region or seasonal theme, cooked by one of the team or a special guest!
The first event is a bit of a special one with music from a new band to us, The Belle Rose Quartet and a Middle Eastern inspired menu from chef & owner Simon Extance;
The Bella Notte Quartet is one of the premier UK jazz ensembles. The band features the incredible vocals of Belinda Rose Barnett and is led by talented pianist Timothy Funnell. To complete the lineup they are joined by Bristol’s finest Italian rhythm section with the brilliant Mattia Collu on drums and the wonderful Pasquale Votino on double bass. They play a range of vibrant music from classic swing tunes to the latest in contemporary jazz.
Their repertoire heavily references some of the classic jazz vocalists of the 20th century such as Ella Fitzgerld, Carmen McRae and Peggy Lee but they also manage to spin their own contemporary interpretations of the great jazz standards.
Belinda mixes daring improvisation and musical refinement with a serving of soul and joy. Tim Funnell manages to combine a fine European sensibility with a deep love of the blues and the jazz tradition. Mattia is a wonderfully sensitive and creative drummer but never departs from a deep groove. Pasquale is the centrepiece of the band driving the group forward with his impeccable bass lines. Together, they are guaranteed to make your feet tap and your heart croon.
